Bill Heffernan; Pathological Abuser

Bill Heffernan; close pal to the PM John Howard, Liberal senator and breaker of promises. It wasn’t so far back that Bill Heffernan was promising not to use Julia Gillard’s marital/family status as a political tool.

Well Bill Heffernan has put the lie to Bill Heffernan this week, branding Gillard as “deliberately barren” (for political purposes) and incapable of sympathising with an electorate of families because she hasn’t had the necessary experience with nappies.

Newsflash; not everyone in the electorate has had experience with nappies and those who haven’t still deserve representation. Heck, the electorate is predominantly white. I guess Bill’s going to tell us that black people don’t have necessary experience being white, so they aren’t suitable leaders. All of this is of course stupid. Family status, just like skin colour has no baring on leadership capacity.

Bill wasn’t making a valid political statement; he was going into the old-school bag of tricks of invalid ad-hominem and abuse.

Bill’s just reliving an ancient Liberal party tradition; back before the party was formed, there were a couple of nasty little armed terrorist militant political groups called the new and old guard; both closely associated with both Menzies’ (Hitler appeasing) United Australia Party, and also then journos by the surnames of Packer and Murdoch (the latter who spent his time making anti-Semite sledges against our General Sir John Monash of ANZAC fame, during WWI). These were the circles the founders of the Liberal Party travelled in.

The tradition in question of course (when not plotting the violent overthrow of the then Lang Government in NSW) was proto-fascist abuse; abuse them enough and perhaps they’ll give up and go home. It’s a tradition that is alive and well in the Liberal Party, especially in the far right of the Libs. Just look at what they did to John Brogden in NSW!

The problem for Heffo, is that the Australian public doesn’t go in for this Squadristi-esque tactic, and more to the point Heffo, and you should know this by now; to violence against women, Australia says no. Your Government came up with that didn’t it Heffo? Just like you came up with the promise not to misogynistically violate Julia Gillard.

You can’t control your behaviour can you Heffo? It’s pathological isn’t it? Too bad the words you come up with aren’t worth a damn thing. At least not to sensible people and not to the majority of Australians (I’m sure your comments went down really well the with wife-beater and rapist demographic though).

Howard and your Liberal party pals still values your talent at abuse though. It is a Liberal Party tradition after all.

Yeah sure, Howard had you bumped from the Parliamentary Secretary roll after you fibbed about Justice Kirby being a pederast and all that, but as my friend Mikey points out; they still gave you a nice pre-selection deal afterward.

This Howard Government is out of step with both the Australian Public, and ethical political conduct (although the later is a no-brainer.)

Your pals like your work Heffo, but the electorate doesn’t.

Caveat: Yesterday, I published my “About This Blog” section. In it I wrote that I’m not for political correctness and I stand by that. There is a difference between simply being politically incorrect and being abusive. Political correctness is often used to stifle debate, but so is abuse and I have even less tolerance for the later. Heffernan wasn’t just being politically incorrect, he was being abusive and therefore is legitimately the subject of criticism and calls for sacking.

Ironically, the greatest act of political correctness you are likely to see in relation to Bill Heffernan is not from those calling for his sacking, but rather from those making trite accusations of “political correctness” in order to shut down criticisms of Heffernan. False accusations of “political correctness” being such a popular means of enforcing political correctness these days. The PC hypocrisy of much of the right knows no bounds.

  3. [...] just don’t get it… Abusing people doesn’t work like it used to, even if it is a Liberal Party Tradition. “Has the new hairstyle, a bit of a rinse, and a set of pearls helped the red-headed Labor [...]

  4. That is right because “Reasons to Believe”, sent a news letter to alert me, of atheism trying to rise. They told me of the “Rationalist Responce Squad”. So, please bring more atheist, for me to defeat, in debates.

What does that have to do with Bill Heffernan?

I have to say, Corey, that Bruce is being very patient with you. Far be it from me to speak on his behalf, but I’d say you’re just abusing his patience now.

(Bruce: I suggest the disemvowelling tool. Kills trolls dead.)

  6. There is a disemvowelling tool? I thought you did that manually!

Actually, I could probably write a disemvowelling tool and imbed it in a static page… If wordpress lets me…

Oh and Corey. That’s strike three. You’re out.
