Finally!!!

I wanted to leave another post for the weekend in addition (and in a different tone) to the last post I had on offer and I was going to post it almost straight afterward.

My computer has for the past few weeks been sitting at another residence and a few hours after writing on my blog yesterday, I moved it to my new home where I am sitting at the moment. Alas, before I could post anything a connectivity issue arose and I’ve only just got it sorted as of a couple of minutes ago.

But here we are! I’m finally blogging from my own home again after the past couple of months on the fly. This next week may be a little quiet for me and when exams come again in a few weeks it will be heads down for me again, but I think I can officially state that my blogging hiatus is over.

The new washing machine works a treat, the plumbing has been taken care of, my wine racks are almost assembled, the coffee tasted great this morning, my music selection is finally at hand and running through proper speakers and my Internet is up! Yes!

Anyway, what I wanted to leave you with is in response to the recent fixation on Einstein and God, both from an honest theist* and an atheist perspective, I though I’d throw a Popper quote into the mix, where Popper (intentionally) borrows Einstein’s penchant for theological language.

If God had wanted to put everything into the universe from the beginning, He would have created a universe without change, without organisms and evolution, and without man and man’s experience of change. But he seems to have thought that a live universe with events unexpected even by Himself would be more interesting than a dead one.”

- From Omnipotence and Other Theological Mistakes by Charles Hartshorne.

So what do you think Popper made of Einstein’s use of the word God?

* I note honesty because I don’t want people to get the impression that said author is making one of those “Einstein said “God” so he believes in my God” types of misrepresentations. As popular as such misrepresentations are, one shouldn’t over-generalize about theists and I think there is a risk of doing so in this case given the popular exposure of said tall tales about Einstein. He isn’t going down that road at all so don’t worry or get over-zealous!
