Blog award meme… thing…
I’ve been either tagged or awarded by Mikey, with something called the “Brilliante Weblog Premio-2008″.
Out of respect for Mikey, I’m going to pass the award along as per the instructions, which in Mikey’s (repeated?) word’s go as;
1. Put the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.
Personally, I’d like to nominate Mikey for a more prestigious award along the lines of a national blogging award were people get to vote. For “Australia’s most candid blogger”, Mikey would be a shoe-in.
I had a seach back through the generations of this award-meme and found it laborious to get beyond a certain point. People hadn’t been linking back to the post in which they were nominated, but rather just the blog and by a certain point, the nomination posts had been pushed away back into people’s archives.
This is also one of those memes you wish everyone had a link back the the one that started it all, so that you could get a bit of context.
In any case, I nominate the following.
It’s About Time – Written by a fellow Adelaidian Linux geek, who has also taken to writing over at Social Media Philosophy.
OzAtheist – Who has recently made a comeback to the Australian Blogosphere. Again, welcome back!
Sean The Blogonaut – For grappling with an array of contentious topics.
Matt’s Notepad – Because he seemed to like the last one of these things I sent his way.
Five Public Opinions – What would a blogging meme be without AV?
That’s got the Australian atheist blogger clique out of the way. Oh, wait!
Memeplex – Because Sammy is due back. Now!
City of Skeptics – A fellow South Australian, and critic of The Advertiser it would seem.
Some good blogs here, even if circumstance could allow for some newer content on a couple.
I’ll have to update my RSS lists and Blogroll I think.

PS. The irony of having the Australian Godless represented is deliberate, in consideration of the several religious US blogs deep that I got in search of the original. Not to mock of course.

Um, did you punch it into a search engine?
Nope. I’d had enough just transcribing the graphic.
Oh crap, I didn’t file this under “meme”. Not sure that it can be considered a hoax though.
Ha! The original claim of it being a hoax (I just think it’s a meme) cites The Selfish Gene about memes. No surprise there.
You know I only quibble.
It’s a good excuse to recommend others you think good; but it’s only an excuse
Tag and release meme taxonomy isn’t an excuse! :O
Thanks for the award, even if it is a hoax?
I’ll get around to posting it on my blog and try and find 7 others to award. Seven seems like such a large number.
Bruce,
Thanks for the award. Will get a round to posting it when not cursing my work mates.
Thanks for the award, even if it is a hoax?
I don’t think it a hoax, just a meme. Actually, I think the hoax listing at the site John linked to could be considered a hoax; a hoax-hoax listing as a pretext for directing traffic to a blog that criticises the meme.
Heh. I make no claims, other than it was the top hit – I didn’t spend time investigating its provenance.
Note that there is no necessary dichotomy about it being a meme and a hoax.
