A win for Chris Illingworth
The charges have been dropped.
May Chris Illingworth get every bit of compensation that he deserves and the closure that he seeks.
May every call for open and accountable government raised by this fiasco go unfrustrated.
And may the culprits have their noses rubbed in it. Repeatedly. Until they’ve got the point. Then further. And again for good measure. And then again until every other twit in the executive arm of government who thinks the same way gets the message. And again so they know the warning is for real.
Someone’s career, if not that of a few, has to go. Open government requires that it happens in the public arena.
Oh, and a huge public apology to Mr Illingworth wouldn’t go astray either.

Just read about this myself. What a waste of police and taxpayer resources. I second your motions.
Yay! I blogged about this too, after a conversation with Mr Illingworth. It’s fantastic news, although the road to recovery for him will be a long one.
I think a lot of people would be behind a public apology too.
