Comments Policy

Netiquette.

Firstly, not all posts here are written in the same spirit or for the same audience. For the most part, I want to be inclusive which means that generally, swearing and the like aren’t acceptable. That’s generally speaking. Still, I’ve since become a little relaxed on this (albeit marginally) since my move to WordPress. If a post is going to use “rough language” or otherwise potentially objectionable content, the post will use a “more” tab, with said content only visible after clicking “read more” and not without prior warning. If a post uses “rough language” then said language is acceptable in the relevant comments thread as well.

As for directing abuse at others, or using the comments sections to defame people, well that won’t be tolerated. If for example “rough language” is accepted in a thread and one was to direct rough language as abuse at another making comments (or another in general) then it will likely result in a ban, without any additional warning to this one! I won’t go into the details of the linguistics, but say with the “f” word, I would make a distinction between “X went out and finally got a f*”, “X F*ed that up nicely” and “X, go and F* yourself!” The latter, under no circumstance would be tolerated, the former two would be somewhat more dependent on context.
